The Ahuwhenua Trophy reemerged in 2003, after a near 30 year lapse and in 2003 and 2005 the Trophy was awared for excellence in Sheep and Beef farming. In 2006 the Trophy celebrates Māori excellence in dairy farming and in future years the Diary competition will alternate with the Sheep and Beef competition.
The Ahuwhenua Executive Committee are proud to continue the challenge set by Sir Apirana Ngata and Lord Bledisloe when they intorduced the Ahuwhenua Trophy in 1932 to encourage Māori farmers to tap the full potential of their farms. With Māori holding $100m share in Fonterra, exceptional performance must remain our constant benchmark if we are to continuously improve and keep our edge in the sector.
