Postgraduate Scholarships


Below are the postgraduate scholarships that are now available on our Application Portal for students who are enrolled for the full academic year at a tertiary institution! You can go through each of the scholarship's criteria to determine what you will qualify for. If you need assistance at all, please do not hesitate to contact us for support.


2024 Postgraduate Scholarships

Please carefully read each description to ensure you meet the criteria before you go to apply. You can use the link below to be re-directed to the Application Portal where you can start your scholarship application process! If you meet the criteria for more than one scholarship, you can apply for all of them – but you will only be rewarded one.

 

Applications must be received by Tuesday, 30 Paenga-whāwhā (April) 2024 by 4:00pm.

NOTE: There are no individual scholarship applications EXCLUDING the Rose Hellaby and Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship scholarships. Instead, you will need to contact our office to receive an application form. The rest will be listed on our MET application forms, and you just need to check the box for whichever you are wanting to apply for.

APPLICATION PORTAL

Available to full-time Māori postgraduate students studying in the fields of Agriculture or Environmental Sciences.

Open to those who whakapapa to a hapū or marae of the Wairarapa Tāmaki Nui a Rua Rohe and are registered to the Ngāti Kahungunu ki Wairarapa Tāmaki Nui-A-Rua Settlement Trust.

Available to a Māori student undertaking research at postgraduate level, in a field which is of significant benefit to Māori. Priority will be given to a student attending the University of Auckland.

Must be a registered beneficiary of the Kokako Māori Land Trust. 

Available to Māori postgraduate students undertaking postgraduate study. Priority will be given to students with financial need.

Available to Māori postgraduate students undertaking study in a field that will support the strategic interests and direction of their Hapū or Iwi.

Available to Māori postgraduate students undertaking study in science (biology, chemistry, physics), technology, engineering or mathematics.

Open to members registered with Ngā Rauru Kītahi Iwi.

Open to those who whakapapa to a hapū or marae of the Whanganui Rohe and are registered on the Whanganui Iwi Registrar.

Open to members registered with Ngāti Kea Ngāti Tuara Iwi.

Available to a Māori or non-Māori graduate with excellent academic ability, who plans to research at postgraduate level in a field that will benefit Māori.

Available to a Māori graduate, to enable them to complete their postgraduate studies. Pre-requisite is completion of a master’s degree.

These prestigious scholarships are available to Māori students with a record of proven academic excellence, undertaking Masters or PhD postgraduate study in the fields of engineering, mathematics, science, technology or medicine.

Available to a Māori graduate with a record of academic excellence.

Available to Māori students who have a Master’s or Honour’s degree and are enrolled in a PhD programme of study.

Available to Māori students who have completed a Bachelor’s degree and are enrolled full-time in either their Honour’s year or a Master’s degree.

Available to a Postgraduate Māori student who is a direct descendant of Reverend John George Laughton or of Tūhoe descent, to assist with education or training costs.

Must be a descendant of Tangiharuru and Apa or a beneficiary of the Tangiharuru Apa Land Trust

Open to ‘Registered Owners of descendants of Registered Owners,’ or ‘Beneficiaries an descendants of beneficiaries in a Whanau Trust constituted in terms of Te Ture Whenua Māori Act 1993’.

Available to Māori graduates with a record of academic excellence.

Open to members registered with Whakatohea Iwi.

Available to full time Māori postgraduate students studying in fields of Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Veterinary/Animal Science.
