2025 Regina Rudland Memorial Scholarship
Available to full-time Māori undergraduate students who are of Ngāti Porou descent and are undertaking study in the field of Agriculture or Apiculture at Level 3 or higher.
Regina Rudland was a prominent Barrister and Solicitor who primarily worked in Wellington, New Zealand. She is credited as being the first Māori woman to specialise in banking and financial law, as well as the first woman president of the Māori Law Society. In 2007, the notion of a “Gina Rudland Memorial Scholarship” was promoted by a combination of Ngāti Porou whanau and lawyers and solicitors, and subsequently endorsed by the Māori Education Trust. In 2014, the idea of a Regina Rudland Memorial Scholarship was revisited, and it was decided that the scholarship should come to fruition and that it should focus on agriculture/apiculture – an area in which Rudland was very passionate about.
The aim of this scholarship is to support those who whakapapa to Ngāti Porou and are enrolled in a field of study surrounding agriculture/apiculture at Level 3 or higher. Certificates and Diplomas may include, but are not limited to, the following:
