2025 RJ Graham Secondary Scholarship

Available to Year 12 and Year 13 Māori students with academic merit studying Te Reo Māori and either mathematics, information technology, or science. (Science is defined as physics, chemistry, or biology).


The RJ Graham Secondary Scholarship was established in 1995 after Robert James Graham bequeathed a share of the RJ Graham Estate to the Māori Education Trust. The aim of this scholarship is to support students who are in Year 12 or 13 and are enrolled in Te Reo Māori and classes that are STEM related.

EligibilityApplicants must:

  1. be of New Zealand Māori descent;
  2. be enrolled at a NZQA recognised secondary school;
  3. be a Year 12 or 13 student;
  4. be studying Te Reo Māori and a STEM related subject;
  5. submit the application and supporting documentation on time.

Supporting Information You need to provide:

  1. Whakapapa verification. This can be a letter from your iwi confirming your registration.
  2. 2025 Enrolment confirmation. This can be a letter from your school, or a 2025 class timetable.
  3. 2025 Class timetable. This will need to show that you are studying Te Reo Māori and a STEM related subject.
  4. NCEA Results. This does not need to be certified, and needs to show you have achieved a merit or excellence endorsement in 2024.
  5. Bank verification of your bank account number. This can be a bank statement or a screenshot of your banking app.
