2025 Rose Hellaby Bursaries Scholarship

Available to Māori undergraduate students studying to become qualified or employed in a profession or calling which includes scientific, mathematical or technical skills. Priority will be given to students with academic merit and leadership skills.

Rose Hellaby, visionary and benefactor, was one of five children in the old Auckland Hellaby family dynasty, and lived in what is now a historic home set in 9 hectares of land and, upon her death in 1974 at the age of 91, the home was gifted to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park. In 1969, Rose established the Rose Hellaby Medical Scholarship Fund, with it’s purpose being to provide scholarships to medical practitioners to undertake research in rheumatic disease, physical medicine, and manipulative treatment, or to bring specialists to New Zealand to impart their knowledge.
