2025 Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Scholarship

Available to a Māori undergraduate student studying at a recognised New Zealand tertiary institute, who attended Ngata Memorial College as a Year 13 in 2024. Priority will be given to a student with academic merit.

The Sir Apirana Ngata Memorial Trust was formed in 1961 following the receipt of a grant from the Māori Purposes Fund Board and a grant from the Māori Soldiers’ Trust Fund. It’s original purpose was to aid secondary students descended from Work War veterans, to pay fees at Māori Boarding schools. The criteria was subsequently updated in 1995 to help school leavers from Ngata Memorial College in Ruatoria, to enrol at a tertiary institute.
