2025 Tangiharuru Apa Māori Land Trust Scholarship

Available to undergraduate students who are descendants of Tangiharuru or Apa, or who are registered beneficiaries of Tangiharuru Apa Trust.


The aim of this scholarship is to support tauira who are specifically descendants of Tangiharuru or Apa, or are beneficiaries of Tangiharuru Apa Trust. Recipients of this scholarship are selected by Tangiharuru Apa Trust.

EligibilityApplicants must:

  1. be of New Zealand Māori descent. Show they are descendants of Tangiharuru or Apa, verification by a Kaumātua or Elder is necessary;
  2. be enrolled in full-time study at a New Zealand Institution;
  3. be a descendant of Tangiharuru or Apa;
  4. submit the application and supporting documentation on time.

Supporting Information You need to provide:

  1. Whakapapa verification. This can be a letter from your iwi confirming your registration, or evidence that you are a descendant of Tangiharuru or Apa.
  2. 2025 Enrolment confirmation. This will need to prove that you're undertaking full-time study for the full year.
  3. NSN and student ID number.
  4. Bank verification of your bank account number. This can be a bank statement or a screenshot of your banking app.
  5. Academic transcript. This does not need to be certified.
  6. Curriculum Vitae.
