Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga

Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Mutunga is the governance body that owns and administers our collective assets for the benefit of Ngāti Mutunga.

 

The Rūnanga is a Trust consisting of five (5) elected representatives drawn from the adult registered members (being registered descendants of Ngāti Mutunga Tūpuna or nga Uri o nga tūpuna o Ngāti Mutunga). The Rūnanga operates according to an Iwi-agreed set of rules called the Charter.

To be eligible you must be a beneficiary and registered with Ngāti Mutunga. You can register or get further information by going to their website.

Applying for Ngāti Mutunga Scholarships:

When you apply for a Ngāti Mutunga scholarship via the MET Application Portal it is VERY IMPORTANT that you select Ngāti Mutunga as one of your iwi affiliations. If you do not, you won’t be able to apply for these scholarships.

Available to a full-time Tertiary student who can Whakapapa to Ngāti Mutunga

Applications must be received by 

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  1. Be of New Zealand Māori descent; and actively involved in Marae and Te Ao Māori – and can demonstrate this.
  2. Be of Ngāti Mutunga descent.
  3. Must be registered with Te Runanga o Ngāti Mutunga.
  4. Must be formally enrolled in a New Zealand or International University, Polytechnic, Institute of Technology, Wānanga and Private Training Establishment.

Supporting Information you need to provide:

  • Whakapapa verification: This will need to be completed by a kaumātua or you may submit an Iwi registration confirmation letter.
  • Enrolment Confirmation.
  • NSN Number. This is your unique ID with the Ministry of Education that you can get from your tertiary institute or NZQA.
  • Certified Academic Transcript from last year of study.
  • Encoded bank deposit slip or bank verification of your bank account number.
  • Curriculum Vitae.

Important Information:

  1. Information will be saved automatically as you move from one page of the application to the next.
  2. If you cannot complete the application online, either contact the office for support (details below), or submit a hard-copy application to which all supporting documentation must be attached.
  3. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.
  4. If you meet scholarship criteria, you can apply for as many scholarships as you wish, however you can only be awarded one.
  5. You must advise the Māori Education Trust of any changes to your application (e.g. change of address or withdrawal from study). All changes must be advised in writing (email or post).
  6. All applicants (successful and unsuccessful) will be notified in writing within three months after the scholarship closing date.
