2026 Otama Marere Education Grant

Open to owners or descendants of Otama Marere Trust, or beneficiaries of Trustees of a Whānau Trust.

The aim of this scholarship is to support tauira who are owners, or descendants of owners, of Otama Marere Trust, and beneficiaries of Trustees of a Whānau Trust.

EligibilityApplicants must:

  1. be of New Zealand Māori descent;
  2. be enrolled at a tertiary institute in 2026;
  3. be attending study for the full year;
  4. be an owner or descendant of Otama Marere Trust, or a beneficiary of a Trustee of a Whānau Trust;
  5. submit the application and supporting documentation on time.

Supporting Information You need to provide:

  1. Whakapapa verification. You will need to provide the name, address, and telephone number of the Owner you whakapapa to or a Trustee of a Whānau Trust in which you are a beneficiary;
  2. 2026 Enrolment confirmation. This will need to prove that you're undertaking full-time study for the full year, and show your course-related costs.
  3. NSN and student ID number.
  4. Bank verification of your bank account number. This can be a bank statement or a screenshot of your banking app.
  5. Academic transcript. This does not need to be certified.
  6. Photographic identification. For example, passport or driver's license.
  7. Curriculum Vitae.
