2019 Whanake – HERA Scholarship (Undergraduate) (Engineering - Structural or Mechanical)

The Heavy Engineering Research Association (HERA) is committed to strengthen and extend their industry’s capacity and is pleased to offer a scholarship targeted to a female Māori student in their first year of a four-year Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.E ., or B.Eng). The scholarship comprises an annual scholarship award of $5,000 and paid summer internship (with HERA) over four (4) years.

As this is a form of recurring scholarship, conditions will be placed on the award. The internship offered is Auckland-based, so ideally the recipient will be enrolled in an Auckland tertiary institute.HERA is keen for the scholarship to be a collaborative partnership, with the recipient acting as a role-model and mentor to young Māori considering a career in engineering.

Māori Education Trust Year 10 and 11 Scholarship

Number of recipients: 50


Available to 2019 Year 10 and Year 11 Māori students with demonstrated financial need. The scholarship is intended to provide assistance with education costs.

Māori Education Trust Undergraduate Scholarship

Number of recipients: 25


Available to Māori undergraduate students who are in their second or third year of study in 2019. Priority will be given to students with financial need.

Māori Education Trust Postgraduate Scholarship - Stem

Number of recipients: 6


Available to Māori postgraduate students undertaking study in science (biology, chemistry, physics), technology, engineering or mathemathics. Applicants must meet all crieria and submit two references, one of which must be an academic reference.

Māori Education Trust Postgraduate Scholarship - Hapū or Iwi Development

Number of recipients: 05


Available to Māori postgraduate students undertaking study in a field that will support the strategic interests and direction of their Hapū or Iwi. Applications must submit a letter of support from the Chair (or equivalent).
